With what is happening in the world right now, nearly all U.S. education conferences are cancelled, postponed, or now all-virtual at least through early April of 2020. Schools on the verge of Spring Break are announcing extended Spring Break, and many colleges and universities are telling students to come back in the fall.
Nonetheless, there is an ever-expanding number of edtech companies offering free services, extended trial periods, and other support to schools, educators, parents, and students. There are also associations, groups, and nonprofits in the education sector providing extra resources for educators and parents.
The situation is fluid with much to learn as everything unfolds. On a bright note, there is a clear united effort underway by so many solution providers and education leaders out there – with an underlying theme of, ‘How can we be of service or help in the face of an unprecedented set of circumstances?’
Hats off to teachers, professors, and education leaders as well as business leaders, students, parents and anyone confronting our current state of affairs and being a resource to others around them in need of extra help.
While Twitter lights up with back-and-forth on equity in a time of #remote learning discussions – and as we in the U.S. and beyond look to what might be next, for those hibernating at home or bunkering up and hunkering down – a good inspiring read about the helpers of the world might be a much-needed uplifting break from it all.
